Brenda Roy is an international award-winning designer whose work appears in galleries across the country as well as in television and film. "The concept of "tradition and innovation" perfectly describes my approach to the design process. I am very drawn to images and objects from the past and much of my work is inspired by Celtic and Medieval art, but the historical artifacts are only a starting point. In my Lewis Chessmen series you can clearly see how the original objects have been transformed to their most basic geometry - what emerges are contemporary pieces that hold echoes of the past."
